As a student in the 健康 Unit Coordinator (HUC) program, you will concentrate on coursework directly related to working in a variety of health care facilities. At Hennepin Tech you will learn the effective ways of becoming both professional and customer service focused. You will be an important member of a professional health care team in hospitals, extended care facilities or medical offices assisting the nursing staff with the non-clinical clerical tasks. You will gain the skills you need to succeed including learning about the essentials of health care facilities, 医学术语, and processing physician orders. 技能要求

Personal qualities considered essential for this occupation are the ability to be detail oriented with a high degree of accuracy while managing the workload in a very busy environment. The HUC should be able to solve problems logically and critically, 是自我激励, conscientious and demonstrate good customer service skills. HUCs are expected to protect the confidentiality of patient information, demonstrate a high degree of ethics, and exhibit professionalism.

The student is required to complete 112 hours of externship at a clinical site that is assigned to them.

Positions are available as 健康 Unit Coordinators (HUC), Patient Care Technicians (PCT), Nursing Station Technician (NST) and Unit Coordinators (UC) in hospitals, 养老院, 诊所, 医生的办公室, insurance companies and other healthcare settings. Graduates are eligible to sit for the National Association of 健康 Unit Coordinators (NAHUC) certification exam and the 护理助理 state examination.

HUC Program is aligned with the standards of practice set forth from the National Association of 健康 Unit Coordinators

Hennepin Tech 健康 Unit Coordinator program has affiliations with most of the health care facilities in the Twin Cities including Allina Hospitals, Fairview Hospitals and Park Nicollett-Methodist Hospital. Local extended care facilities such as Masonic Homes, St. Therese, and Augustana also employ 健康 Unit Coordinators.

Once the student has graduated from Hennepin Tech they are eligible to take the National exam to become a Certified 健康 Unit Coordinator and also become a member of the NAHUC.

The advisory committee is comprised of educators, 监事, human resources representatives and HUC practitioners from local health care facilities.
